Pros

*Flexible time off (if you can actually use it) *High upward mobility due to the number of people leaving *Work from home *Work with some really good people

Cons

Coalfire is going the wrong way. The VP level and above is in it to line their own pockets. It’s a good ole’ boys network at the time that rewards scheming, politicking, and manipulation. When the company was acquired by APAX, the folks in the CEO’s “club” were rewarded much better than a lot of others that were there from the beginning. True disgrace and opposite of the way the original founders would have run the company. Today the company continues to struggle with high turnover. Most impactful is all the good VP level employees are gone....dozens of them. The writing is on the wall, which is why I’ve started looking myself. I have no idea what Apax was thinking as the internal mandate from the top is to run the workforce at an insane pace to meet Apax’s expectations. It’s only going to continue to get worse with COVID, high bill rates, and a culture that continues to decline. It’s a shame to see this place fall apart the way it has.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are proud that many of the industry’s best and brightest cybersecurity professions are part of our team, and that there are opportunities for career advancement. We consistently hear these are two of the biggest reasons people stay at Coalfire when gathering feedback from new hires and tenured employees. With our new investors, we had a great opportunity to roll out a corporate-wide program to allow Coalfire employees to benefit directly from business performance that drives an increase in Coalfire’s value. We are extremely confident in our leaders and their ability to help us execute our long-term organizational goals – and, more importantly, our clients’ goals. In the competitive cybersecurity market, retaining our talent is a top priority as we grow and evolve, and we are committed to keeping employees engaged and challenged. We are disappointed to hear you feel these changes have negatively impacted our culture. We’d love to discuss your concerns in more detail, as we take feedback very seriously. We encourage you to reach out to your Human Resources Business Partner so we can learn more.

Pros

- Real client-facing technical work in regulated/FedRAMP environments; good exposure if compliance-heavy cloud is your lane. - Internal mobility exists on paper; managers may encourage internal candidates for promotions. - New management clearly understands their assignment and is saying the right things and taking initial steps that appear to be moving us towards a strong path forward.

Cons

- Promotion paths can be unstable; roles may get restructured mid-process, which makes career planning hard. - Management quality is uneven; promotion into management isn't always tied to demonstrated leadership, technical capability, or appropriate vision. - Limited structured professional development. - Compensation progression can be a friction point, including for internal moves. - Bonus payouts have come in far below target even for top performers, which has been rough.
