Pros

Where to start? I've been at Coalfire for over five years now and have nothing but positive things to say about my experience here. The people are absolutely incredible - kind, smart, focused, and always happy to help. "That's not my job" is something you aren't going to hear. And despite everyone working remotely for the last couple of years due to COVID, we prioritize finding ways to connect - in-person and virtually. There's a real sense of teamwork here that I haven't found anywhere else. For the most part, the work is we do is challenging and exciting. We work in one of the fastest-growing industries in the world, and our clients include some of the world's largest, most well-known companies out there. The career growth opportunity is real. I've received multiple promotions since joining and have watched many of my colleagues rise through the ranks as well. There are lots of internal and external training opportunities to take advantage of, as well as tuition reimbursement. The flexibility is unparalleled and work-life balance is a clear priority. Remote work is encouraged and celebrated. I've never had a problem taking time off (even on short notice) or stepping away for a doctor's appointment or personal obligation.

Cons

Coalfire is growing fast, and as a result, experiences a lot of the typical growing pains you would find in a high-growth environment. Reorgs seem to happen on a regular basis, and some processes are not fully documented.

Pros

- Real client-facing technical work in regulated/FedRAMP environments; good exposure if compliance-heavy cloud is your lane. - Internal mobility exists on paper; managers may encourage internal candidates for promotions. - New management clearly understands their assignment and is saying the right things and taking initial steps that appear to be moving us towards a strong path forward.

Cons

- Promotion paths can be unstable; roles may get restructured mid-process, which makes career planning hard. - Management quality is uneven; promotion into management isn't always tied to demonstrated leadership, technical capability, or appropriate vision. - Limited structured professional development. - Compensation progression can be a friction point, including for internal moves. - Bonus payouts have come in far below target even for top performers, which has been rough.
