Unworthy - Sales Representative Color Spot Nurseries Employee Review

Pros

At one time this company had incredible products, a family spirit within its workers and an awesome management style. Unfortunately that era is long past.

Cons

After 10 years of devoted service to this shipwreck of a company they laid me off the week of Christmas 2015. Bitter? Yes. On review I believe that their days are numbered. They are losing accounts, class action lawsuits pending, etc. If you work there you might to do a re-think; if you are looking for a job than do yourself a favor and look somewhere else. I could carve a better company out of a bar of soap.

Pros

50% discounts on employee plant purchases. No pesky training or enrichment classes to attend. Guaranteed 16-18 hours per day, 6 days a week from Mid-March through June 1 for both hourly associates (at straight minimum wage, no overtime rate) AND management (no comp, flex or additional PTO).

Cons

They are the 800 lb gorilla on the block who continues as a business entity simply due to their size and market share. Much akin to a Russian Oligarchy, except, of couse, there is room for professional growth in an oligarchy. Completely dysfunctional Management hierarchy. The Company motto should be "That's the way we've always done it and we're not about to change" CEO means well, but has surrounded himself with incompetant sycophants & Yes-Men who tell him nothing but good news where they are concerned and have perfected the art of finger-pointing, blame-laying and castigation of those who dare speak the truth. Most Corporate bigwigs (Director & VP level) are employed merely due to longevity and because they are FOJ's (Friends of Jerry). Professionally, 95% are out of their depth and would founder outside this company. Their idea of "management" is regurgitating the quotations found on the bottom of motivational posters. Each division managed as its own fiefdom by a Division President, usually a leftover from an acquisition who lacks the mental horsepower to find gainful employment elsewhere. Corporate relies too much on the MELLO words of one or two of these incompetent, self-serving narcissists to gauge the overall success of the company. Corporate HR, particularly the HR Director, is out of control. Completely over-reaching, usually wrong, but ruthlessly malicious in her retribution.
