Pros

The only pro was that I was able to read material related to my job whilst working here as I was never assigned any work, it was also fairly easy to leave because it's completely mismanaged. Also, if you are lazy (I am not) it's a pretty good place to sit and just earn a wage which is precisely why I left. If you like reading, I managed to get through two Stephen King books and 4 textbooks in my 3 months at this job (I left before my probation ended), then this place is perfect for you. The management was reminded on a daily basis that I had no work assigned and knew I was reading from complete boredom (no action taken). I managed to fall asleep (due to lack of work, despite asking) a total of 11 times, which probably wasn't a pro as it ruined my sleeping schedule

Cons

Poor management No software licenses for commercial use (used Express additions) No budget for IT No assigned work A terrible tiny and smelly office with no windows above a horrible noisy factory Filled with end of life careerists who never had any intention of learning new practices Low pay (albeit I was being paid to read books) Spent my first day sitting next to a manager who spent 3 hours drawing an org chart on Visio whilst he explained that he didn't know what half of the people under him do Took 2 weeks for a computer to be provided which is was so below spec it had barely any ability to run any serious programs, which left me developing programs using Notepad (not joking) Everything is blocked, Gmail, various resource websites related to my job No phone signal, so if you want some sort of connection to the normal non-grey world you have to go outside, which I did frequently for hours at a time When leaving I was told "I thought you'd just pick up work", as if I am some sort of magical IT fairy who immediately when employed gains complete contextual awareness of antiquated print systems. No, that's not how development works. None of the management knew anything about the frameworks used. How can you manage a framework you know nothing about? The answer is you can't and people have left because of it
