Pros

Deciding to work here is one of the best career moves I've made. My work supports the efforts of people who absolutely strive to positively impact people's lives and better our community. People who work here are respectful and patient and encourage creative problem-solving. There's a lot of room for innovation here, and I think leadership trusts staff, which is a big deal. The benefits here are fantastic, especially considering this is a non-profit, and the employee wellness activities and incentives are fun and just really cool. The ability to work remotely is nice if I need it, though on days when I'm not in the office I find that I miss being around my coworkers and their energy.

Cons

This isn't a "con", but more of a "heads up". This is a nonprofit, and nonprofit work is demanding in a different way than for profit work. While CCN is a big organization, staff here do a lot of plate spinning and admin staff especially wear a lot of hats. The to-do lists can get long and overwhelming, and it can be difficult to prioritize things because when your work directly involves the well-being of people, EVERYTHING feels like a priority. And, often, various programs are often scrambling to solve a problem ASAP. It helps to have good expectation management and boundary-setting skills. If you don't, the project pile-on is nonstop and you'll get burnt out very quickly. If you have experience working with non-profits, this will come as no surprise to you. if you dont' have this experience, it can be a bit of an adjustment.

Pros

There's a real sense of teamwork and collaboration. Leadership is friendly and accessible. Schedules are flexible and conducive to a great work/life balance, particularly post-COVID. There's also a fun and vibrant wellness program, with some great incentives to get and stay healthy. I find the benefits to be excellent, with very decent medical and dental plans, as well as generous CTO.

Cons

Staffing is currently a real struggle, and everybody is feeling the strain of it. The pay is decent, but it's a non-profit, so it can't compete with places like the hospital. This is offset by a very good benefits package, though. There is always a LOT of work to do. There are a lot of moving parts, and things are constantly changing. This can feel overwhelming sometimes. The support is there, but you have to be comfortable asking for it if you need it.

Thank you so much for your positive feedback! We are always advocating for better wages for our staff with the legislature and the State. Tremendous progress has been made in recent years but we know we still have some more work to do. Please continue to provide input to your supervisor, HR and Senior Leadership.
