Pros

Work from home position in this job

Cons

I was considered salaried and worked many more than 40 hours a week but only paid for 40. Worked 7 days a week for the first 10 months and never received my guaranteed holidays off or got paid extra for working them

Pros

Great place to work. Rare to find a private practice not owned by a hospital these days.

Cons

Can be tricky dealing with difficult patients but that's healthcare

Pros

I had the pleasure of working with Community Health Associates in a consulting capacity to help restructure their internal operations. Given the direction of health care in the United States and the emphasis on cost containment, it was refreshing to see a team of doctors and health care professionals always put the patient first, regardless of pressures from insurance companies. This team takes the time to get to know their patients inside and out, at a time when the industry is moving towards a "treat em and street em" mentality. They are one of a dwindling number of private practice providers that only have to answer to their consciences and not the head of a corporation. They take the same caring attitude towards their employees and offer some of the more generous benefits and working accommodations that I have seen for a small business.

Cons

The practice has a tremendous reputation among patients in the Fairfield County area and volume is, therefore, high. The office is extremely fast paced and busy, and each of the providers has a full plate on a daily basis given their emphasis on not rushing a patient visit. They have taken steps to add additional staff to ease the workload, which should help considerably.
