Pros

The only two things that kept me going at this place were the few students who enjoyed coming to school and weren't lazy and the down to earth teachers.

Cons

Very little direction, school is literally a circus each day, students can get away with talking to teachers very disrespectfully and the directors do not reprimand those students at all. The pay is horrible considering you get paid hourly so for all those extra hours you stay after for projects, activities, etc and what not, you do not get paid. School day goes until 5 pm. Directors do not thank you for doing anything extra or acknowledge any favors you do to help out. Most poorly run school if you can even call it a school. Students barely do any work, they don't get homework, etc. As a teacher you are expected to be a guidance counselor to these students too, since the school does not want to hire a psychologist to actually help these students who are going through a troublesome time. It is a shock to me that students who graduate from here even get a HS diploma. This school needs to be restructured. Teachers leave here so fast because administration does not support/help you at all. They really just need bodies since this place is a revolving door with their employees. Most unorganized place; you go in for an interview and you end up waiting 5+ hours on 2-3 different days since they are so all over the place. Biggest waste of time- do not work here. Really is a shame because there are some great kids who deserve all the resources and tools they can to succeed. The bad truly overshadows the good here.

Pros

There’s no requirement for previous experience, which is beneficial for those starting their careers. However, this also contributes to the low salary. Although there are bonuses, they stem from extra hours worked at events and tend to be slightly lower than what was initially promised. Field trips can be fun, but driving the van(they ask teachers to drive) in the extreme summer heat is not ideal. On the bright side, there are many enjoyable classes for both teachers and students.

Cons

Employees are often terminated without clear reasons, with 5-6 people being let go in a single day, creating a competitive atmosphere among the remaining staff. There’s no training, support, or guidelines provided, yet the administration expects high performance. Online teachers enroll students, leading to frequent mistakes. The administration, run by two brothers, is disconnected from day-to-day operations, and their management style fluctuates based on their moods. Issues with IEP meetings, graduation requirements, and course structures are common. It was uncomfortable when teachers repeatedly asked a student for a gift after recommending them as “Student of the Year.” One teacher, who was receiving compensation money, was fired for receiving a spicy gummy from a student, which seemed unreasonable. While the administration consists of talented individuals, they have poor habits, are not receptive to feedback, and take critiques personally. Unfortunately, I don’t foresee these issues being resolved.
