Pros

The team at compliable is amazing, absolutely fantastic group of people, aside from management.

Cons

Everything else. Mostly the CEO has no clue how to run an effective company. He panics and fires random people for "underperformance". When my third colleague was fired in 6 months I finally decided it was time to leave. All of these fired employees were outstanding in their own way and were not given any tools to succeed. That company has a great idea, great team and joker leadership team. Constantly overpromising and under delivering for customers then pushing the responsibility to deliver onto an already overloaded dev team. They do not compensate team members fairly and instead of lie about growth opportunities and make false promises. Upper management will pretend to be tight with you then talk mad ish about you as soon as you're randomly fired by the CEO because he wants to "try something different". I saw this on multiple occasions. The 4 day work week is a lie. Management expects you to work Friday and gets upset when you don't.

Pros

From day 1, I've had culture and sustainability for the company in mind. From designing an engineering pipeline that does turn to spaghetti after 5 years, to hiring and retention methods installed at the start, we've always thought long term about what type of place we wanted to create. The end goal being that if we weren't able to do things sustainably, that it probably wasn't worth doing. That doesn't mean everything is always great. There are times when we had to push. Unexpected events or global pandemics that required all hands on deck to go above and beyond. However, when people are prepared for it, and not exhausted, we were able to pull through those rough spots. We are not rock stars. We are not ninjas. We do not need Heroes to succeed. Hero cultures live and die by the individuals who take that role. We are a group of people who respect the possibilities of what can be accomplished by working together, all pulling in the same direction. Our values matter to us, and we try to instill them into what we do daily.

Cons

We're a startup transitioning to a Small Company. A lot of change is involved in that, and a lot of focusing our limited resources on specific goals. That means we sometimes are behind the curve on getting more people into positions that can support the incoming work. It gets corrected eventually (As we are successful to date) but it can make for some intense weeks until we can find the support we need. Also, because we move so fast, we sometimes do not have the supporting process and procedures to deal with our new size. We could be better at laying the road ahead of us to smooth those transitions.
