Pros

I’d like to preface this by saying this isn’t a knee-jerk reaction to any singular bad experience but rather a detailed overview about my time here. The Pros: - The Team: Conseqta does a great job in hiring high quality people who have great experience in software development (development, functional analysis, project management). Everyone is always willing to learn more and is open to instruction to further their skills. - Camaraderie: Everyone is willing to help each other out even if there’s not much information to be shared. People work together well and support other team members without being asked or claiming that that thing is “not within their job description.” The team is welcoming and open to questions and that’s something that never changed throughout my time here.

Cons

The Cons: - Top Level Management/Company Leadership: This is by far Conseqta’s biggest red flag. Where the team performing the direct client work exudes teamwork and openness, the top level management seemingly always looks to emphasize the fact that *they* are in charge and only their opinion truly matters. It’s not uncommon here to get into arguments with top level management over processes and ideas and to be constantly overruled and lectured as to why management’s opinion is better than the team’s opinion. There’s an extremely condescending attitude that top level management has when it comes to providing feedback to the extent that it feels like you’re constantly being lectured or belittled for asking a question more than once for clarification, suggesting a better way of doing things, or simply not doing things the way management wants to do things. It doesn’t matter how many years of experience you bring to the table; you’re never correct when it comes to a direct discussion with the higher level management here. - Lack of Professionalism: There’ve been open arguments on video calls, in the office, and in one-to-one conversations. It’s not uncommon for management to bad-mouth people who have left here in the past by saying “oh yeah [they] did this and messed it all up” directly and openly in front of the remaining team members. It was openly and casually said “people aren’t being productive and no one communicates” in front of all the team members in a call - how are people supposed to react to that when the leaders of the company are the ones saying it? In some instances, management has openly said (of employees who were there for more than a year) that “they didn’t do much” to justify their surprise with that employee choosing to leave this toxic work environment. Stop treating your employees like children or babies - it’s extremely condescending to speak to your employees as if they are incapable of performing at a high level. - EXTREMELY HIGH Turnover & Lack of Accountability: As I mentioned before, the brass here doesn’t like to take ownership of anything going wrong with the company. The turnover rate here for such a small company is alarming and it’s mainly people with more than 5-6 years of experience who are constantly at odds with top level management who decide to leave. But when this is brought up, the brass just chalks it up to that person not being good enough and “unwilling to listen” which honestly feels like a form of projection of their own internal denial and lack of willingness to accept ANY sort of blame. When an employee tries to bring up something that is bothering them or give feedback for the company as a whole, management likes to gaslight them and dismiss anything they say. They are in complete denial about the problems at the core of the company and that's unlikely to change.

Pros

Been here for a couple years now. - Good team where you can expect help when you ask for it. Company culture tries to keep things light and welcoming. - Steadily improving work / life balance. - Work is starting to become more diverse, making new projects and new experiences more viable. - Decent benefits. - While the main company project has been difficult, this is improving as we close it out, making maintenance our primary objective going forward. - Since I started working here, I've never been messaged on a weekend or a vacation day. They really do respect time off.

Cons

- Had a rough start on company project (long hours, repetitive work, bad grind) - Personnel Attrition has been an issue (but hopefully will be improving with expansion of projects) - Growing pains have always been an issue, with people leaving and new people needing to get up to speed. Need more introductory materials.
