Pros

The company teaches some Excel skills, but just enough to do your job. There is paid time off, benefits, and a 401K program.

Cons

At first it will seem ok because the job is straight forward. But be warned! If you try to excel at your job it will be used against you. Once they see someone doing well they overload them with extra assignments, and unpaid mandatory overtime until each persons morale is in the basement. There is a quota of work to be done each day and if you fall below that for one day you are called into the managers office to see why your performance is "slipping". Employees are told they must stay at least a half hour after work each day so as not to give the impression that everyone can leave when the "school bell rings". Although if you only stay an extra half hour each day your commitment will be called into question. They say you get sick days, but don't tell you that it is mandatory to work from home if you need to call out. If you do end up working there do yourself a favor and mark down everything you are asked to do. Management had a tendency to develop amnesia if something they asked you to do ended up being unneeded. Then YOUR time management skills would be called into question. Also if you are a woman and work there WATCH OUT! There is a difference between telling some stories with the guys after work and making woman feel uncomfortable while you blatantly look them up and down, or call his favorite female employee in every morning to discuss "office gossip". Very unprofessional. When trying to make a complaint about management employees are often told to meet with HR, who will then refuse to file the complaint. Promotions are not based off of work but rather who you know or are related to. Morale is extremely low. Management is aware but beyond the occasional pizza Friday, they don't seem to do anything to fix the issue. They simply do not care about their employees. Managers are often uneducated past high school and abuse their power as it suits them. Look, times are tough and if you need to work here, just don't stop looking for new employment. And remember, achievement here is punished with an overload of extra assignments, mandatory unpaid overtime, and a general decrease in your quality of life. I was with this place when it was first starting and it really was a great place to work. But the company has made several changes for the worse that make it unbearable to work unless you are at a very high level.

Pros

CCM has been a great company to work for. It’s a breath of fresh air to be with a company that treats me with respect and shows my appreciation for the work I do. I can be a shy person and being new to the intermodal industry I had plenty of questions. The folks here –management included- were friendly, welcoming and eager to help bring me up to speed; something I have yet to experience elsewhere. CCM sets me up to succeed and gives the opportunity to advance in my career. You are given the resources you need to complete the task at hand and supported by the company when it comes to learning opportunities. The benefits are one of the best I’ve seen amongst my family and friends and I feel lucky to have obtained work with a company that is forward thinking and concerned about their employees obtaining a healthy work-life balance.

Cons

If you are new to the intermodal industry you might not know what a chassis pool is. It can seem intimidating and a bit overwhelming at first to learn everything and get acclimated with the terminology but the team at CCM is very supportive.
