      Pros

      Lots of room to grow due to the retiring work force. Also the salary is good and the people are very good and enjoyable to work with. I get the feeling that most workers would do a lot for each other.

      Cons

      The benefits (health care) were recently reduced, but that is more common with the new rules. Also the demands of the work week can often exceed the normal 40 hours.

      Pros

      Coworkers are all intelligent and overall good people to spend 12hrs a day with.

      Cons

      The department is perpetually understaffed. You’ll never actually work an 8hr shift, because no one is dumb enough to vote for that schedule. There’s not enough operators to fill the schedule without being forced all the time for 16hr shifts. Be prepared to be forced for OT on a regular basis even with a 12hr schedule. If your family is important, then this probably is not a good long-term plan. You’re going to miss sports, holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, etc. You live at work and home is a place you sleep. The company might advertise company holidays, but that just means you get paid a little more for being here on those days.
