Pros

Cool staff below management who actually care about their clients and the people they work with

Cons

Don't listen to this company about its so-called commitment to protect employee health or even inclusion - as soon as I started to experience personal health problems they acted like I was scum beneath their shoes. Everything regarding health, especially mental health, is seen through the guise of toxic capitalism: poor mental health and disability are personal failings, and most of the 'help' provided through their website guides or in person EAP services are steeped in deeply systemic ableism and toxic positivity culture. This is pretty interesting for a company so concerned with psychosocial hazards and employee wellbeing. At the end of the day, this company makes money from the mental health industry but doesn't apply any of the lessons it apparently espouses to itself.

Pros

Location in Melbourne CBD easy to access

Cons

Extremely old and slow systems which when dealing with suicidal callers led to high stress levels for staff and a psychologically dangerous environment. Lack of transparency and constant business changes that employees are not informed about. Felt like working on a sinking ship. Psychosocially unsafe practises as well as systems which breach data protection. Salary issues regarding OT and PH payments and low salaries for the stress levels of the job. Poor management support and very fractured management structure. No accommodations for mental or physical health issues other than pregnancy. Would not recommend for anyone with accessibility requirements at all.

Pros

There are some truly exceptional people at Converge who deeply care about what they do, across multiple areas of the business, however their hard work & dedication is severely compromised by an unrelenting work load, extremely poor leadership from Executive & little genuine care from the very top.

Cons

Staff are currently leaving in droves, or are actively job seeking. No one seems to take the time to really question what is going so wrong that staff across so many areas of the business are unhappy and experiencing high levels of stress and burnout. When concerns are raised by staff, no real action is taken to try to address the issues and implement positive change. In this day and age of psychosocial risk legislation and clear compliance codes, the fact a mental health provider has done zero to assess their own hazards and implement controls is appalling. Staff are being told to add more and more duties to their roles with no consultation. Multiple roles have been made redundant with workload having to be absorbed by others. There is no clear and published business strategy, making the redundancies seem meaningless other than to probably increase margin. This workplace needs to stop the relentless pursuit of growth & increased margin and instead pause to listen, assess & overhaul their business structure to be a truly great EAP provider once again. Or be transparent with the strategy to sell, if that is what really is happening here, and what a vast number of current employees believe is occurring.
