Pros

They have a decent little gym for staff to use, the break room is clean and good looking they offer a pretty solid benefits package, store management is friendly for the most part, and they have regular BBQ's and what not for staff.

Cons

The general manager for all delis under Cornerstone Coop is an unprofessional B word. She refuses to take responsibility for the instructions she gave in her last visit be ause she knows they dont work, constantly moans and whines about every little thing you do, and expects everyone to work at max production despite it being a busy deli and us being short staffed most of the time. For her and regular management, nothing is ever good enough. Not to mention the 3 girls who've been in the deli the longest never clean up after themselves and leave closers huge messes and mountains of dishes. With how upper and lower management handle this deli amd the preferential treatment they give older employees, its no wonder they cant retain employees.

Pros

Frankly...there are none. Especially if you are part time (everyone is part time unless you've been there since the time of the dinosaurs ) No benefits, unless you meet certain hourly requirements...which the management ensures you do not meet. Pay is laughable...and pay raises come every 500 hours, at approximately 35-40 cents at a time. Oh! That's IF human resources remember to actually implement your raise...

Cons

Again...there are literally ZERO pros to working here. They do not offer a staff discount, but instead ask you to purchase a membership, and claim that they will return an extra 5% to you on top of the regular patronage allocations...BUT...if you don't spend literally every dollar you make AT the Co-op, then don't expect any refund/equity cheque at all. One staff member spent over $ 15,000 there over the course of a year, and received a cheque for less than $150 at the end of the fiscal year. Management is...well, for lack of a better term...crooked. They all back each other, regardless of the situation, or what is right or wrong. It's like a small town within a small town, and if you aren't one of the originals, then you're expendable, and if a manager doesn't like you. ..for ANY reason, you may as well start looking for another job, because they will find a way to get rid of you...up to and including making up reasons to" write you up". After 3 write ups, you will be suspended pending a meeting regarding your worth to the company. (Don't kid yourself, you're getting fired kid!) Filing complaints about management with HR is also a waste of time, as your complaint will be ignored or brushed under the carpet...it will also put a big fat target on your back as someone who needs to be...released. Aside from all of that wonderful stuff...the Co-op charges approximately 15-20% more than any other store in town, in order to maintain profit margins, while still appearing to "give back" to their members. Way to go Co-op!
