Pros

The location in upstate NY is beautiful, the company pays well, the work can be a lot of fun, and they generally do support innovative research.

Cons

By their own admission, they do a poor job of assimilating mid-career hires. If you don't manage to figure out the culture (the REAL culture, not the slick, focus group approved verbiage in their glossy handouts) , you won't survive, and there isn't much else to do in this area if you've relocated. This is complicated by the inconsistency of the culture throughout the different divisions. Some divisions have more problems in this regard than others, and you might thrive in another division. Surviving in the culture depends on your ability to proactively insert yourself into the many informal groups which exist in your particular area. If you're a type A personality, this will be easy. If not, you will be in for a bumpy ride.
