Pros

Easy work, no pressure to innovate or bring new ideas, basically a lazy-mans paradise.

Cons

If you dont fit into their culture, you will be removed. Not a lot of projects, so gaining new experiences is difficult. No options for medical coverage or any coverages. Mediocore PTO. Cotton is in a bad situation as of this review. They are a small CPA firm, that acts and treats their employees, with the mindset of being a big firm, which clearly they are not. Their turnover is high, and for good reason too; People are not stupid and see through the BS thats fed to them, which is why everyone they hire, leaves shortly after. There is a subliminal undertone that if you dont fit into their culture, then you will be removed. Cotton tries to appear as if they are a consulting firm, but in reality they arent; Innovation is not encouraged, so instead of the motto "if it aint broke, dont fix it", Cotton's motto is "if it is broke, dont fix it". If you want to make decent money, to basically do nothing, then this is your spot; If you want actual career advancement, and fullfillment, then looke elsewhere.

Pros

- Cotton has competitive pay and offers flexible work schedules whenever engagements allow. - One of the best things at Cotton is that you are in charge of your success. Promotions are performance-based rather than seniority-based. - Cotton does its best to ensure their employees are happy and growing professionally. - Cotton does its best to adhere to its core values and principles, including work-life balance. - Cotton’s commitment to quality and professionalism is evidenced by the fact that it voluntarily undergoes a peer review every year, rather than the minimal every three years. - Cotton continuously strives to give back to not only the community via The Giving Committee which supports volunteer services and charitable giving, but also, Cotton’s Sustainability Initiative which focuses on sustainability and environmentally-friendly activities.

Cons

While the first half of this is a con, Cottons handling of these situations can also be seen as a pro. Your experience at Cotton will be directly linked with both the client and team you are assigned to. While I’ve had many positive experiences with both as discussed above, I’ve also had assignments and teams that made me dread coming into work every single day. Most partners and managers at Cotton are highly competent and lead by example, but unfortunately that is not the case for all. If you find yourself working under a partner or manager that does not understand the company's core value of 'Balance,' it’s important to communicate that to your advisor or anyone you feel comfortable speaking to in a position of influence. If possible, changes will be made in order to retain you.
