Pros

Lots of other peoples money

Cons

Founder is out of his depth and lacks the ability to even construct a viable vision for the company or the inferior product, likes to Monday morning quarterback everything you do. Do you have 15 years experience in the industry? Do you want sell you career out to a guy that schedules 5 min meetings? How about calling one of the most prestigious wholesalers in the country and try to buy submissions with gift cards? No matter how many times i told him that was insulting to everyone involved he wouldnt listen. He is an ecommerce shoe sales man with a carpet bag. If you make it 6 months here you'll probably move up about 5 spots on the seniority ladder. Without a doubt this was the last nail in the coffin for my career. Absolutely toxic environment. Also the tech is so so. Third party data sources for underwriting risks are neither new nor proprietary. Lots of better companies to work for than this one.

Pros

The team is sharp - and the right people are in the right places. You're working alongside people who actually understand insurance and tech. Some of the brightest minds in each industry have converged here. Real ownership of your work. This isn't a place where you're a cog. You see the direct impact of what you do on the product and the business on the monthly, weekly and even daily. Leadership is accessible and genuinely open to ideas. The distance between "I have a thought" and "let's try it" is incredibly short. That's refreshing in an industry where you are frequently hit with the "that's not how we do it here" mentality. The mission makes sense. Professional liability insurance is overdue for modernization, and Counterpart is actually doing it rather than just pitching a deck about it. Good work-life balance for the industry. You're trusted to manage your own time like an adult. We have a work from anywhere philosophy, taking remote work to a new level. There is no micro-managing. People trust each other to do the work, and we do, on person-by-person terms.

Cons

Like any growing company priorities can evolve quickly, but that keeps the work dynamic and means you're always close to what matters most to the business.

Pros

The culture here is genuinely great! It's fast-paced and people are driven, but everyone is also super collaborative and willing to help each other out. You have full ownership over your work and while competitive, it never feels cutthroat. Being fully remote is a huge plus, and it actually works well because the company has built real systems help you connect with your teammates. You're trusted to manage your own time and get things done without anyone breathing down your neck. Leadership is transparent and approachable, which makes a big difference. Benefits are solid, work-life balance is real, and there are actual opportunities to grow your career if you put in the effort.

Cons

The only downside of being fully remote is the lack of in-person connection; spontaneous conversations and team bonding just don't happen naturally. That said, it's a pretty minor gripe and honestly comes with the territory when remote work is the trade-off. It's also a very entrepreneurial, self-driven environment, so if you need a lot of structure or hand-holding to stay motivated, this probably isn't the right fit.
