Pros

Don’t be like me. While I was interviewing, I briefly skimmed the positive reviews. I didn’t notice that all the good reviews come in clusters and they all say the same things. This isn’t a coincidence. Leadership asks current employees to leave these reviews, with standard company talking points, to bury the reality of working here. Then when I read the bad reviews, I thought surely people were exaggerating. They aren’t. It’s really that bad. If you’re interviewing here, you’re going to hear a few things again and again. High performing team. Things move fast. It can be intense. It’s not for everyone, only those that want to do world-class work. Etc. Don’t believe this. It’s a smoke screen used to mask and justify an abusive, toxic workplace. Do not give these people your time or talents.

Cons

Working here was a constant swirl of poor communication, changing deadlines and expectations. None of this came from the clients, but rather from the co-owner that’s been called out again and again. Forget about getting feedback, you’ll be ignored. Or if you do manage to get any feedback, he’ll have changed his mind or entirely upended the project by the next day. There is no way to win. This was by far the worst job experience I have ever had. I’ve also never experienced such a fear-based culture until working here, and the leadership team and middle managers (I guess they are directors now) enables all of this. They will not stand up to the bullying and they do not have your back. They seem used to the toxicity and hardly acknowledge when the co-owner throws a tantrum, dresses down a junior employee, hurls a grenade at a project or just completely contradicts himself.

Pros

Crescendo provided a valuable foundation in start-up project management, and gave ample opportunity to explore and develop product ownership and website maintenance.

Cons

Training is not fleshed out, start-up culture at this company has a tendency to become cutthroat when finances are slim.
