Pros

Still the leading innovator in end-to-end residential and workplace technology. Long time, dedicated and loyal employees are like family. But...

Cons

...the old family is thinning. Hiring upper levels from outside has won favor over internal promotion. CEO thinks he is the world’s greatest businessman (he is good, no doubt) but he has absolutely atrocious leadership skills. The cult of personality visionaries are all dead, gone, or silent these days. It’s a vacuum of inspiration. If you work anywhere other than HQ, be prepared to be considered a second rate citizen CFO sets ridiculous growth goals ignoring intelligently prepared forecasts. Keeps the carrots just out of reach. CEO is impatient and impetuous. He’ll make sweeping changes at the beginning of the fiscal. Those changes take six months to ring out leaving everyone scrambling to meet goals towards the end of the next fiscal; invariably falling short. Rinse, repeat the next year. Everyone is growing quite tired of the fire drills. CEO accepts zero ownership for not meeting his own targets. He’s a one-trick pony who only knows how to berate and blame the smartest and hardest working sales team in the industry.

Pros

Relaxed. Management understands traditional AV industry is saturated and is trying hard to pivot the company into new direction. Whether it will work or not is to be seen.

Cons

This place really needs to re-evaluate how they hire and retain engineers. Across all disciplines, there are many senior level engineers who have no idea what they are doing. Some lack such basic engineering skills and knowledge which makes one wonder if they had proper higher level education or lied about their past career experiences on their resume. Most of them are genuinely nice people, but they are really dragging down productivity.
