Worst Job I have ever had in my life -- and I was a dishwasher when I was teenager and even that was better. - Senior Software Engineer Cybrary Employee Review

Pros

Nothing. I wish I could say something positive.

Cons

They did not pay my last paycheck until I sent them a lawsuit, demanding my last paycheck, and even that took over a week. My first paycheck, they did not take any taxes out and said I did not need to report it to the IRS. I confirmed with Cybrary they do this with everyone's paychecks. I have paycheck stubs to prove this fact. My offer letter states that I was to receive medical benefits with no mention of a wait period. I asked my recruiter as well as the co-founder if they had insurance, and they said, yes. No mention of a wait period. On my first day, I asked to sign up for benefits and the CEO said it was a 60-day wait period. After 60 days, the CEO was asked again about signing up for medical benefits, and CEO said it was now a 90 day wait period. They did not have an employee handbook when I started but they implemented one while I was there with a clause that says they can change any policy without warning. The handbook then said there is a 120 day wait period for benefits. It also says you are on probation for 120 days, which they never told me. I have the handbook, my offer letter, and witnesses that I never received any medical benefits. Their party line is that "All eligible employees who apply for health insurance get health insurance." Ask them what eligible means and how long the wait period is. Ask the co-founder if he uses Cybrary's health insurance himself. They have lost lost 25% of their staff since they opened. Their site says that they offer free cybersecurity training. Ask them the proportion of the number of videos they created that on the site vs the number of videos that were taken from YouTube. Every all hands meeting was negative and they would tell us that we were expected to work plenty more than 40 hours a week. They said if we don't like it, then let them know now, and we would 'part as friends.' They even had a slide that stated that during a presentation! My blood pressure, which is normally 110/70 was consistently 150/100 when I worked there. It is now back to normal. Every day I drove in, I wanted to vomit because I hated it so much. They changed their mission statement 3 times in 2 months. I had 2 doctor appointments in 2 weeks and they freaked out and called my placement agency and said that I was looking for another job and they kept messaging me asking me if I was looking for another job. If they perceive you are trying to leave, their philosophy is to get rid of you that right then. This was worst several months of my life that I worked there.
