Pros

Flexible working hours, which made it easier to manage work-life balance. Allowing you to start from 7:30AM - 8:30AM Tasks were generally straightforward and easy to learn. A good entry point for gaining initial experience in GIS before moving on to more advanced opportunities elsewhere. Supervisors were supportive and willing to provide training — they were often the most approachable and invested in employee development.

Cons

Poor management – Communication was often unprofessional, with shouting and swearing instead of constructive dialogue. No clear progression – The role felt like a dead end with no opportunities for advancement. Lack of recognition – Hardworking staff were paid the same as those who consistently did the bare minimum. Low pay – Close to minimum wage, with little chance of meaningful raises regardless of performance. High turnover – During my 2 years, I saw 5–6 employees leave, including some who started after me. Several others were let go during probation due to lack of available work, despite being hired only 3–4 months earlier.

Pros

Easy work very relaxed environment but is heavily dependent on client site and manager.

Cons

Pay is not transparent. Even if the pay rate would come out to 75k a year between client only unpaid holidays and small amount of time off only 2 weeks a year. My total gross income has been closer to 60k a year
