Pros
DAI is a global development company with extensive operations around the world. At the same time local and global project teams are able to make change on the ground in communities around the world. The project implementation model provides opportunities for development communications professionals to engage in innovative and dynamic communications campaigns that are part of program delivery.
Cons
For many local staff there is limited ability to grow up into the corporate structure, leaving them to be only relevant to the company if there is another local project in a country or region. Specifically communications professionals, whether working in the global units or in the local context are often bounced from project to project and are not retained in an organized way to be utilized as a corporate resource. This results in very fragmented experiences for communications professionals and DAI as a result doesn't retain institutional knowledge.
