Pros

The Courts offers most Federal benefits, a few Divisions are working hard to improve processes and employee moral, a few Divisions have telework (max. 1 day per week) and AWS.

Cons

This organization is not controlled by OPM and does not abide by Federal rules (although Federally appropriated) and you will not be a Federal employee. Trainings and certifications for staff are not always a priority (depends where you work). This is a highly political environment with a lack of fairness and transparency. Much of upper management expect blind loyalty and take things too personally, some are verbally and emotionally abusive to employees. There is a lack of external oversight, so employee complaints are rarely addressed. IT infrastructure is outdated and inefficient. This is not a positive or creative environment. There are entire Divisions that refuse to allow employees to Telework and the organization does not allow for a combination of AWS and Telework. This is currently and antiquated environment with an over-controlling administration.

Learn from smart Judges how they analyze the facts and law

Cons

Pay is not as competitive. Depending on the calendar there might not be a lot of opportunities to write judicial opinions. No retirement account.
