Pros

Met some truly incredible people. A lot of whom were sadly let go.

Cons

I wanted to share my thoughts and experiences regarding the recent rounds of layoffs at DICE, as I believe it is essential to address some concerning issues. Firstly, I have been personally affected by these layoffs, and it's disheartening to see so many talented individuals let go. I can't help but wonder how anyone is left given the scale of the layoffs. One significant concern is DICE's claim of prioritizing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) on their website. Unfortunately, this claim feels like a flat-out lie. There appears to be a considerable lack of support for individuals who are neurodiverse. While initially celebrated for their differences, these individuals are ostracized and treated differently when they deviate from the norm. In the first round of layoffs, they even let go of the chair and co-chair of the BIPOC committee, which understandably made the remaining employees feel targeted. Subsequent layoffs also seemed to disproportionately affect people of color or those with non-conforming gender identities, raising serious questions about the company's commitment to diversity, especially given that a significant portion of their income comes from music of black origin or artists of color. On Glassdoor, several reviews have flagged these issues, but the response from DICE has been disappointing, with mere promises of improvement and assertions of valuing their employees. The reality seems different, as evidenced by the manner in which people were let go. DICE claimed that these layoffs were necessary to protect the business, yet it's troubling to see them repeating the same mistakes. Many employees dedicated themselves and endured a toxic culture, despite benefits like "unlimited holiday," "growth and development," "summer hours," and "DICE credit," which, in truth, didn't significantly improve anyone's life. Furthermore, the company's senior management appears to operate like a boys' club, favoring their close allies. This has created immense stress for middle management, who are caught in the middle of decisions made by senior management and have to deliver unpleasant news to their teams. While some middle managers try their best, most seem ill-prepared for their roles, leading to an environment where stress is not acknowledged or properly addressed. Recent layoffs have predominantly affected the sales department, and this does not bode well for DICE's future. I strongly urge anyone considering DICE as an employer to reconsider, as the company's culture and practices may have a detrimental impact on one's well-being and career. Final note - I have not disclosed my former position for fear of being outed.

Hi, We appreciate you taking the time to leave a detailed response and we are sorry to hear about this. Regarding the restructures, we are fully confident that no specific community, disability or gender identity has been disproportionality affected by these changes. These decisions are thoroughly reviewed and investigated to ensure that we have followed due process and that we have been inclusive and fair. We remain fully committed to ensuring DICE is a platform for everyone and will continue to hold ourselves accountable to keep DEI integral to our business. Our DEI team have worked closely with all of our ECG groups to ensure the teams have been supported during this time, and that they can continue to create strong communities within the business. We know what restructuring a business can do to company culture, and we have put in place plans to ensure DICE remains a great place for people to work, learn and forge bonds with others.

Pros

The most amazing people I've ever worked with. Decent pay. My managers truly care about me and stick up for me, which I can say about very few jobs I've ever had. Workation, unlimited PTO. Remote work. Decent health insurance. Monthly DICE credit. I get to travel for work. Really great vibes and the least amount of toxicity/passive aggression that I've ever felt in a workplace -- I feel super supported by everyone I work with. The product itself is so innovative and has so much potential. I know I also describe a lot of cons, but I really need to emphasize that for me the pros have far outweighed them and I truly believe that DICE has come a long way and will only continue to improve.

Cons

The pay is decent, but I wouldn't say it's especially competitive. The DEI team is lovely and puts so much work into what they do, but hiring still has yet to actually be more diverse. Affected (like many companies were) by tech layoffs a few months ago - notably a lot of those who were let go were POC. There's a long way to go in terms of transparency and long term goals (though I have seen improvement in the time I've been here.) Your experience here hugely depends on the team you are on - myself and most of my team have had almost entirely positive experiences in regards to things that have affected us personally, but close colleagues from different teams have described massively different experiences. Priority is very much always given to the London and NYC offices - most other regions seem to be afterthoughts. (To be fair, these offices are where most employees are, but still.) There is a lot of work still to be done on the product itself but that often seems like it's de-prioritized compared to other things which can be frustrating.
