Pros

- Collaborative, many opportunities to work with colleagues from other departments (Editorial, Campaign) - Since DV is a smaller company, there were bigger shoes to fill. This includes having more important roles and chances to take on bigger things! — (Solely photographed, set design, and edited marketing materials for an entire campaign) - Many different job scopes — (Got to try out different tasks like data analytics etc) - Freedom to express — (DV strongly discourages being a "yes man", everyone is willing to listen to new ideas and even adopt them if they are feasible. This creates a culture of growing and trusting one another, comes hand in hand with being collaborative.) - In terms of office environment, everyone is very inclusive — This made going to work really enjoyable, reminded me of "doing projects with a group of friends". I really liked how we all ate lunch together everyday and tried to include each other in conversations. Working environment is really important and contributes to enjoying working life! So I'm really grateful to have met such an awesome crew at DV.

Cons

- Extremely fast paced environment. From the beginning I was pre-empt that working here has a steep learning curve. The working style and mentoring style is all about being independent, at times I really struggled because there were decisions I needed to learn to make on my own and problems I couldn't solve by myself. Working at DV, it's not about slowing down the process but always speeding up so it was difficult to keep up the pace at times. Nevertheless, my colleagues were always willing to lend a helping hand and answer any queries I had. It was all about working together. "Teamwork makes the dream work" has never been more real to me while working at DV! - I realised many people were burnt out and super tired, I think this is because of the fast paced environment + lack of manpower. Everyone had a lot on their plate at any given of time, so this makes the job really challenging 24/7. However all these challenges also meant that there were lots to grow from. If I had not experienced such curve balls, I'm sure I would not have learnt and grown as much as I did! I'm still grateful for these trials because it shaped me to be be a better employee for the future.
