Pros

- You get a higher pay than an operator. - You get the freedom to be able to move around the line youre responsible for, so youre not stuck standing in one spot for 12 hours a day. - If you enjoy trouble shooting and resolving problems, then this position is great for you, because youre going to be thinking for 20 other people every day

Cons

- In actuality this position is a glorified line support position. - You get the title of team leader without the authority of one. Thanks to the union you dont have any authority to control your line, and operators know this, so they take advantage of you. You can escalate things to the supervisor, but unless they witness something personally, they dont have the authority to do something. - Different team leaders also arent held to the same standards as others are. Some team leaders wander off around the plant to watch their line fall apart, with zero reprocussions. Meanwhile other team leaders are held to ungodly standards where if they barely miss their standards theyre ridiculed into obscurity.

Pros

Hard to be fired, good benefits, double time Sundays.

Cons

No room to grow. Pay scale is a tier system based on a union contract that we negotiate every 3-5 years and the raises are never more than a dollar or two. They offer apprenticeships that you only get if you are related to someone and have some kind of friend up front. Qualifications mean nothing you learn more you do more and get paid less than then the tier 1 employees which makes the newer highers also not want to work so you will be in limbo working harder for nothing.
