Pros
The team is fantastic both professionally and personally. Everyone is willing share and train others in their domain of expertise. I look forward to the interactions with my colleagues everyday. Whether we are discussing a new feature, best practices, or debating the best way to cook eggs. The work, as a startup everyday presents a new challenge and new opportunities to grow. Junior or Senior everyone has a voice and can make real changes in the company. -Refine or learn new skills everyday. -Personal Development time. -Great work life balance. Last but not least the location. Here in beautiful Northern Idaho our office is surrounded by lakes, rivers, forests and mountains. In the same amount time it would take me just to get onto the freeway in the city, I can leave the office and be sitting down next to the river.
Cons
There were some difficult policies. In my opinion, they are gone. Employee feedback was listened to and changes were made. That says and means a lot. There are more priorities than resources. Finding the balance, developing a clear path, to fulfill them has and will continue to be difficult. It is hard to say these next items are purely "Cons" they are challenging but they can be opportunities too. Startups are different, some people thrive in such an environment other do not. -Policy, priority, plans and actual work is much more dynamic than an established business. -There is pressure to deliver. -There will be times to stretch and to take on additional duties and responsibilities. -There are times to pivot quickly.
