Pros

Generous vacations. Access to all campus resources. Stunning beauty, nature, and history of campus. Free apartment (and meal plan when school is in session). Tight knit school community. Good science (esp sustainability) and arts (visual, theater, music) education. All students play 3 sports annually. Some teachers are amazing experts in their field. New head of school is very innovative and progressive. Tremendous freedom to develop your own curriculum as a teacher. Can be good starting point for young, energetic teachers trying to decide if teaching is right for them.

Cons

Lowest salaries in industry with enormous workload. Faculty work around the clock for 5 weeks straight then one week off, repeat, etc. Small, isolated, claustrophobic. Everything about the campus and buildings is dingy and run down, yet room/board is >$50K per year. Faculty apartments are abominable, even if free. The babysitting and hand-holding of unmotivated or problematic students is disappointing. Poor town-gown relations. Wireless/internet is a struggle across campus. Little room for upward professional movement.

Pros

Beautiful Sunsets, friendly students, rich history

Cons

The administration is emotionally charged, without clear vision of the future of the school. They distract you with wishy washy talks about family but in the end, they are not willing to compensate you well or make you feel valued.
