Pros
Joined DataStax because of the collaborative, transparent, and "get-it-done" culture. I love the fact that the environment brings together the things that I enjoy about a start-up (fast-paced, high growth, "ability to make an impact", etc.) with the benefits of a more established company (maturity in systems, processes, and leadership). The executive leadership team continues to impress me with how aligned they are as a whole in many areas, including strategy, vision, culture, and communication. In addition to being extremely transparent and open, the team is humble, appreciative, and focused on not only the health of the business, but on the health of the employees. And I have honestly never worked with a more talented (and genuinely nice!) pool of individuals. As with any growing company in the Silicon Valley, there is a great deal of work to be done and a long list of "to-do's", but being able to see the impact of your efforts on the business is amazing. It has been a wonderful experience thus far and I am excited about the journey ahead!
Cons
As with any high growth company, the pace is fast and change is inevitable. For someone who likes a steady, more consistent environment, DataStax (or any start up) is probably not going to be a good fit. You'll need to be quick, flexible, and adaptable to be successful here.
