Pros

Hyper growth company who’s positioned extremely well to deliver AI capabilities to enterprises across all industries. Technical resources are phenomenal. Both those who support the sales motion and those who overlay specific product areas. The company is always focusing on making the platform easier to use and has accomplished this through a multitude of strategic acquisitions that they quickly build into the platform. This makes Databricks particularly excellent at staying well ahead of the industry.

Cons

Skip and above level sales leadership is entirely too engaged on a week by week basis. Note this isn’t in the field with our customers but through weekly standing calls at SVP level where we listen to diatribe after diatribe about where we are falling short on the metric of the week cast down from above. We hire and promote operations not truly good leaders. The micro management is intense and your experience is highly dependent on your field level leader’s maturity and experience. If you get a newly promoted 30 something leader out of the sales ranks you are in for a rude awakening

Pros

Great teams made up of smart, motivated people. Databricks is an exciting place to work because it is part of the growing data and AI tools space. The benefits and income are also good overall.

Cons

Databricks no longer feels like a startup. There are now multiple layers of bureaucracy, and leadership can feel territorial rather than collaborative. Over time, it can seem like business growth and internal politics have become stronger drivers than innovation or employee experience. For long-tenured employees, it may become harder to stay excited or feel challenged. Other companies may offer a more energizing environment.
