Pros

Occasionally sends you on international trips. Salary and benefits were much higher than the average. A couple of really wonderful, amazing people to work with.

Cons

So many. Firstly, the managers were terrible at leading. I should have known better when I first joined. The manager who I interviewed with ended up leaving our company to work with a competitor as soon as I started. Within two months, my next “new” manager left, and they decided to promote a 3-year BDR to the managerial role. In all my days of bad managers, I’ve never had one make such terrible decisions and treat people with so little empathy. In hindsight, it’s possible that he might have been on the spectrum. That is still no excuse for how I was treated. The onboarding experience should have been my first red flag. Maybe they’ve updated their strategy since I first joined? Their training videos were useless, exhaustingly boring, and difficult to understand because the speakers’ English was so broken. Data Science and Artificial Intelligence is a “new language” to learn in and of itself… but you will never receive an actual education here. Knowledge sharing of the subject matter (and the customers they serve), hardly exists at Dataiku today. It’s simply not a value to this company! There is no structure, technical guidance or support unless you look to your peers (who are gasping for air with you). Even the laptop they provided me was European. Upon starting the job, I had to physically re-learn how to use a basic key board. There were multiple moments where I had asked my manager (who had been with the company nearly 3 years) a technical question to hear his personal insight, but instead, he would always give me a tutorial on “how to Google Search” the question. Dataiku is FANTASTIC at painting an image of, “caring about employee feedback” and, “encouraging a innovative, diverse, and transparent environment”… Do NOT fall for it! You’ll only hurt yourself in the end — Shut up, put your head down, and work like the cog you were hired as, so that the midlevel managers can keep their reputations up, and the bigwigs can keep making their money. Nothing wrong with operating like that, but it’s NOT okay to blatantly lie about it to people. On top of this, the culture here is TOXIC! Men say horrific things about the women behind their backs. Cheat on their partners during work trips. There is always some kind of slimy gossip floating around. It’s like high school. Worst of all, these people spend SO much of their free time drinking. The managers enticed us to come into the office by keeping a fridge packed with booze, which we cracked open almost daily. There were wild Happy-Hour ragers weekly, where you’d be pressured to binge drink with everyone else. Even when I was sent to Paris, the French folks got us extremely intoxicated one night on their fancy foreign French liquor, and then SCREAMED at us the next day for being late/hungover. When I say this company culture is toxic, I mean it literally - be careful, Dataiku will wreak havoc on your mind and liver. If you join the Sales team and unfortunately get assigned to a struggling industry, bad account executive, a rough territory, or your own tech tools aren’t set up for you properly, or maybe you don’t like to cheat the system (like many of the tenured folks do…), prepare yourself for extreme micro-management. They gaslight and mansplane like they were trained for it. If you end up on a PIP (or something that’s, “not called a PIP” but definitely is), expect a new workload requiring a minimum of 14 hours/day- forget your hobbies, social life, spiritual needs, family, basic hygiene, etc. they will run you down with no regard. I lost a LOT to this company; like 20 pounds of physical weight, sleep, time, sanity, just to name a few…. if I gained anything during my time there, it was a couple of friends (who saw through the discriminations and incompetencies- most have left too). I was mentally, emotionally, and physically broken. I have learned to never ever commit myself to a company/job like this again. In terms of the more “minor” cons; hosting meetings for the sake of reminding everyone who’s in charge, hovering you like a helicopter, changing the standards and processes almost daily, and keeping secrets, like all the real reviews say. It’s been a while now since I left. I didn’t want to post a review coming from an emotional place! The truth is, I’m still hurt and upset about my experience there. I feel like a fool for not seeing the companies true colors to start with, and if I can help just one person dodge this bullet before the same happens to them, then it’s worth it.

Thank you for leaving your detailed feedback which is concerning to read. We are very sorry to hear about your experience. As a company, we strive to build a workplace of inclusivity and belonging, and we want to be made aware of any behaviour that goes against our values and mission. I wish these topics had been raised with myself, your HRBP or even via our anonymous platform before your time at Dataiku came to an end. What you describe is far from the culture we aim for and I would love to help us learn from this. If it’s something you’d be open to I’d very much welcome the opportunity to speak further with you so we can learn more about the facts and circumstances surrounding your feedback. You can contact me via LinkedIn. Laurie du Boullay, VP culture

Pros

its just all cons these days

Cons

major culture shift and pressure on employees. The ship is going down and nobody can even admit its happening. I take daily calls for people that want to leave, but none of us can afford to leave and lose our equity.

Pros

it’s a job? i guess?

Cons

miserable to work here and the product is not strong. other giants in the industry are making this product redundant, and not worth the cost. features are not exciting to customers and they can easily complete the same objectives with other products who have longer standing credentials in the industry or by companies simply making similar functionalities themselves. its an uphill battle convincing any clients of the value of this, and its soul sucking to pedal AI all day. zero inspiration from leadership, huge eye roll every time they speak
