Pros

Awesome mission! David Lynch is wonderful. Cool perks like top entertainers and performers at events. Feel like you're a part of something unique, helping bring meditation to high risk communities.

Cons

The organization is a paradox. You would be shocked to see how stressed and adversarial leadership is - many of them are meditation teachers! Also, leadership does not take effective management seriously at all. You know it's bad when directors laugh at how bad they are at managing, state that they know they aren't good, and then move on to the next celebrity who walks through the door. There is fiscal irresponsibility as well, spending mostly for office overhead and production costs and a constant tightening of program budgets.

Pros

Incredible mission and programs. Feels like I'm actually making a difference every day at work (sleeping better at night because of that). Glowing reviews from the populations we help (veterans, school kids, domestic abuse survivors). Good benefits, especially if you're married / have dependents. Very convenient location, near Grand Central. Management actively working on bettering morale, and open to new ideas for bettering the workplace in general. Still a mom and pop / everybody knows each other atmosphere.

Cons

Higher turnover than I'd like. A meteoric rise in the scale and ambition of the programs has meant that there are growing pains. It's a $20 million foundation now, and sometimes directions taken one year are scaled back another year, which can lead to folks losing their jobs. When folks lose their jobs, office morale takes a hit, and can leave an impression of toxicity, but my feeling is that it's part of the process of growing. But that doesn't help anyone who loses their job.
