Pros

* New building with lots of new facilities, technology, equipment, gear, software and hardware * Agency-wide there are folks with talent, skill and a positive work ethic, mil, civ & ctr alike * It looks good on paper and you might get a security clearance out of it if applicable * Cleanliness and ample parking

Cons

* Blatant good ol boy club: it's noticeably worse as compared to other agencies * Perceived discrimination towards Hispanics including difference in pay: I got paid less with no room for negotiation as compared to other folks with the same job during the same timeframe even though I had more qualifications, military experience & rank and a higher education level. * Limited upward mobility: no room for promotion based on merit, achievements and/or experience. * Hostile working environment: civilian as well as military supervisors are often seemingly confused on how they should address civilians and need to be reminded of opm policy. You're constantly on edge and having to pick your battles because even if you're in the right they will paper up your file with anything however small they can find to write you up and make an example out of you therefore, instilling a culture of obedience or else. If they can't find anything on you it's their word against yours, you don't stand a chance. Forget going to HR either, they just say that's your supervisor's style and that they can't do anything. * Too many supervisors in relation to the amount of worker bees: for a shop of 6 frontline worker civilians, there were 5 bosses. This I feel doesn't need further details to see the problem especially when they don't communicate very well or at times you're just being occupied from all directions instead of reporting to 1 or 2 people. * Foul play during probationary period: refer to hostile working environment bullet. I witnessed people getting fired for no good reason and harassed until they quit, including myself. I quit after my tenure and left the federal gov as a permanent employee because of this ongoing circus. * The actual job description doesn't reflect the actual job at all: we are told to market our services in a way that is an almost complete lie and everyone in that shop knows it but no one wants to talk about how as of 2016, 85% of our positions became obsolete due to technology. There is no reason for the Joint Combat Camera Center (to clarify the JCCC is part of DIMOC under DVI at DMA) to exist as it currently operates any longer. At this point, people there are just trying to stay employed and nothing else. * Busy work is the rule instead of making a real impact or bringing some real value to the table: we have to fill out an endless number of reports, excel spreadsheets, ppt slides, overkill confirmation emails, participate in daily meetings that in all honesty is all for internal use but nobody needs it or uses it. You simply spend hours of your day completing things that literally don't amount to almost anything and there are some many little things you are expected to do that if you forget 1 guess what? Paperwork! * Inexperienced leadership: you get promoted sometimes but not entirely based on merit, education and experience. * Expensive business trips to conferences that are not directly related to our jobs: you see we are like the kid at the playground that doesn't get picked for a team but we try to fit in anyways: i.e. we would travel to do outreach visits to customers that don't even know they're our customers or would even care to be our customers for that matter. It's such a strange position to be in a job like that. * Ridiculous babysitting: i.e. when teleworking we have to send out about 5 to 6 emails checking in so that leadership can "make sure" we're online. Private Timmy style. If you don't or your comp is acting up and you can't guess what? Paperwork! * Excessive SOPs: apparently they even have an SOP for everything in that office, including how to make a phone call. * The news are always on: multiple channels at the same time.. all day.. everyday.. because we are apparently monitoring real world events on account of our "operational status". We don't own any assets as it pertains to personnel so how can we be operational if we can't task? I may be wrong but I think it's senseless. * On top of everything else that's messed up about this place, the "planner" (we may plan 1 thing per year but we are not planners per se) positions at the JCCC are coded as misc admin. on your SF-50. Wow. * Too many too list. If you're considering working for the JCCC I would honestly recommend for you to walk away.
