Definite Films Response

Thank you for your review! We always appreciate when former employees take the time to provide constructive feedback so we can create a better environment at Definite Films. We're glad you enjoyed the office and natural daylight. We agree it's nice when the environment you work in is pleasant. We choose the space with our employees well being in mind. It's unfortunate that is the only positive you took away from your experience here. At Definite Films we create content for the beauty and fashion industry. We recognize that is not necessarily everyone's passion. Reading this review, we are reminded of how critical it is to place the right people in the right position for success and are committed to ensuring that our team is comprised of passionate creatives with a desire to elevate every project they are a part of. With regards to the cons, We would love the opportunity to discuss these concerns with you in person. For the sake of those reading the review and considering joining our team, we'll try and address them here as well. We can't say we're entirely sure what constitutes a 'controlling environment' and would love to hear more about the factors that contributed to this assessment. What we can say is that while video is a creative field, we are ultimately serving a client's vision. Video creation is a team process and differing viewpoints will emerge. Anytime we create video in a contractual professional environment (for money) we must understand that there are power dynamics above us that ultimately make final decisions. If this was your first experience in a professional environment, I can understand it could be challenging to not have final say over your work. If the issue is with process. Please understand that in any production environment, it is important to establish a production process that everyone follows. We can sympathize with your frustrations that we "didn't take the time to teach you" and that you received "low pay for what they're asking." Again, we would love the opportunity to discuss this in person because the lack of detail in the comment is disheartening as we wouldn't want prospective employees to draw conclusions from comments we don't fully understand. We can say that for entry level video editors, we do take time to review edits and provide feedback to the work. It is this process of feedback in which the most crucial learning occurs. Perhaps there is a connection between the need for further training and the 'low pay for what they are asking.' If the work was too difficult or outside of the skill set, perhaps you were miscast in this particular role and that limited increases in pay. This is the first time we are hearing this feedback. At Definite Films we believe it is very important to set everyone up for success, and sometimes that means reevaluating the goals and fit. Not sure what "No security" means - whether job security or actual security of the place. Please reach out and clarify, we wold love to discuss, as this does sound important. Lastly with regards to "no diversity in the office," this is incredibly upsetting to hear and we would be very disappointed if this comment in this review gave hesitation to anyone, regardless of their race, background, gender, sexual orientation, or other self-identification, from applying to a position at Definite Films. Definite Films is an inclusive and diverse collection of professionals committed to working together in a respectful and empathetic manner. We're not entirely sure how you are defining diversity in this review, but in the editing department you were a part of, currently no one identifies as a white, straight, cisgender person. We are emphatic that everyone is welcome at Definite Films - whether full-time, freelance, at a casting, or as a client. If you did not feel that was your experience, please reach out and let's discuss. For those considering applying at Definite Films, please do. We hope the above response to the previous review paints a fuller picture of who we are and the environment we strive to create.
