Pros

Delamar West Hartford is a beautiful hotel with great presence and attention to detail. The front office management is experienced and incredibly reliable, not to mention super easy to get along with. If you take your job seriously, they will take you seriously in return, making it easy to request specific shifts, and certain days off; that makes you feel like you have some control of the very volatile scheduling of the hospitality industry. Being a relatively small hotel, the other departments on site are also easy to get along with and easy to contact, making it a very dynamic property to work for. The group is also growing exponentially, so the prospect of moving to another property feels like an exciting prospect!

Cons

Unfortunately, there is not a lot of growth opportunities, while senior management is excellent, they are also somewhat unwilling to let go of some responsibility - whether it is a conscious effort or an unconscious one I cannot say - which has left mid management to stagnate, and entry level team to not grow at all; our FO assistant manager and supervisor are still just doing front desk workloads, rarely sitting down to do more management oriented tasks. The excuse is always that there isn't enough budget, or that there aren't enough staff to promote at this time, but our revenue has never been higher, and having steady growth of existing employees would certainly attract new ones to come aboard; the current structure and sentiment towards this topic feels like a negative feedback loop. In short, growth here revolves around being in the right place at the right time, and you never know when that is. Another drawback is the front desk schedule (Sun-Sat) comes out Saturday morning, sometimes as late as 2 PM, so it is incredibly strenuous to plan around your schedule as Saturday rolls around and you have absolutely no idea what you are going to be doing tomorrow. This was not a massive downside personally, as I am very flexible at this stage of my life, but for other people who thrive on structure, this may not be the right position (or industry for that matter). - TLDR, if you can't stand for a full shift, nor can you work around a very short notice schedule, this may not be the place for you.

Pros

The hotels themselves are nice to work in. Has the potential to be a great company to work for, many of the employees are great, but with such poor management, that often gets overlooked and undermined

Cons

I don’t recommend if you’re seeking a respectful, professional, or fair work environment. The company culture is very toxic, there has been zero account of leadership, and there is no opportunity for growth. Accountability only applies when it’s convenient for management. It’s shocking for what appears to be such a luxurious company to be so poorly managed in reality. And with more hotels opening it will only get much worse.
