Pros

Delaware North is a reputable company with solid industry standing. The experience allowed me to develop resilience and learn about different facets of the gaming industry.

Cons

Hostile Work Environment: I repeatedly raised concerns about a hostile work environment and instances of sexism with my managers, HR, and the employee hotline, which were not adequately addressed. Unrealistic Workload: I was assigned additional responsibilities without prior experience in this highly regulated industry. I worked 14-hour days, seven days a week for four months, including holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas, without appropriate recognition or support. Lack of Support and Recognition: Despite my commitment, I received minimal support from leadership, even when new teammates were brought in. I was still managing the majority of responsibilities while trying to ensure the new team members' success. Excluded from Key Projects: Despite having bonus-related goals tied to a key project, I was excluded from participating meaningfully in this process, which significantly affected my performance and morale. High Turnover: The organization experienced nearly 100% turnover during my tenure, indicating underlying issues with employee satisfaction and retention. Inconsistent Job Role: My role shifted from one functionality to another without prior notice, despite the inherent differences between these roles.

Pros

Good first exposure to client facing roles if no prior exposure. Good for learning to balance technical execution with advisory duties. Good for hands-on experience/learning CRM tools you may not have had prior experience with. Decent benefits. Opportunities to create your own “fun” side projects if you have enough drive to do so.

Cons

Long hours, frequent after-hours/on-call work, including weekends and holidays. Lack of clearly defined process/constantly changing process, making onboarding new hires challenging or educating other departments more difficult. Frequently pivoting business decisions, causing further hiccups in process. Lack of communication. Lack of upward career mobility. Base pay is relatively low. While there are opportunities for raises, chances of promotion are very rare. High stress, high turnover environment that causes scrambling to fill in gaps of lost productivity, causing more pivoting business decisions and revisions of process.
