Pros

Small school environment, extremely collaborative and very supportive colleagues. Job Autonomy and flexibility of time. DSU has a wonderful, positive, happy overall climate. Free access to fitness center, exercise classes, and reduced price performing arts and sports admissions.

Cons

Leadership attempted to micromanage. Slow to innovate -- hangs on to older methodologies. Need meeting norms to be more productive and not waste time.

Pros

Great leave time, benefits, vacation accrual is great

Cons

Difficult to use vacation and personal time. Management sets confusing standards and rules, often contradicting itself. Upper administration is either missing or woefully unqualified for their positions. There is currently a very negative work culture where you are encouraged to do MUCH more than is contractually required, and if you only do your assigned duties, that’s not enough. If you question that, you aren’t a team player. If you take your leave, “you’re never there.” Boot licking is appreciated and rewarded here. There are no raises and if you ask for one, even if you can show the salary is low compared to industry standards, they will laugh and will gaslight you and say, “you don’t come to DSU to make money, that’s not why we are here.” It’s just an all-around toxic place right now.
