      Pros

      I've found Defra to be a great corner of the Civil Service. People care about their roles and, in my area at least, the workplace culture is great.

      Cons

      There are problems with resourcing, and overwork but I think this is everywhere.

      Pros

      Good pensions, benefits and relaxed culture.

      Cons

      Lower pay compared to private sector or other Government departments. Some micromanagement depending on the team you're in. Sometimes you can feel paralyzed trying to make decisions because they can take years to come to fruition.
