Pros
My job is alright. I get to talk with people from every industry imaginable, learn a metric ton of new things with every conversation, and then tell their stories. Okay -- I love my job -- not just because of the work but because management trusts me to do my best and let me off the leash to do it my way. That's what every great employer should do but rarely does -- especially in media. Media companies are some of the least creative, most restrictive employers there are these days. Seriously. Not this company. Great people have assembled an amazing team of talent, and I am proud and so happy to be part of it. I've been in publishing since digital was wishful thinking, and being with this company is the jewel of my career. Don't any of you dare apply for my job.
Cons
Fridge cleanliness, so I am told, is an ongoing issue. As for the 3-star rating on comp: my freelance rate is considerably higher than my part time pay. I don't have formal benefits BUT I have the time and freedom to freelance to add financial support. I can be real about it, no skulking around. So... a cool con if there ever was one.
