Pros

It's a very unique position in which you need the skills of both sales & hospitality/compassion. You have to care about helping families & you also have to use your Sales skills to be truly effective or successful in this role. If you only have one, you'll be one of the frustrated reviewers. As far as being pressured to harass people to get sells & leads, that's not entirely true. Every location has its own location manager so that's depending on whose running your ship & their view of what's effective. My boss has asked me to make some repeated phone calls on a few occasions I wasn't comfortable making so what did I do? I didn't make the phone calls. As simple as that. As much as you have a boss, you are your own boss & your success is dependent on your own skills and effectiveness. You know your families & know what's appropriate so it's up to you to act accordingly. You have to remember that once you do sell, the customers aren't canceling. Why? Bc you're selling a very good and helpful thing. Few people will ever say.. I wish I wouldn't have bought my funeral. If they've gone through it,they know its value. So sell away! Whether or not you're ripping a family off or helping them, is up to you and your ethics. I choose the higher road & I feel great about what I do every day. I currently am employed here, I've been here 6 months & it's been successful for me. Not without bumps (read my con) but I love working here, love my office & the people I work with and I'm not going anywhere else right now.

Cons

This is a big one & why they get 4 stars. If you work as a family service counselor (inside sales office) like myself at the Cemetery, you have to learn so many new things- The computer systems, cemetery layouts, maps, rules & regulations, etc.etc.etc. It takes a full 6 months- year to get a true & comfortable grasp on it all. (Some people never do). I believe they need a different pay system for new hires in the initial months. Nobody makes money for the first 2 months. For me it took 4mths, some never do & the great ones take 2. The reason isn't for any reason other than you have so much to learn first. I'm not speaking for outside sales agents (PPA), only inside sales. Don't let my con scare you away though, If you can afford to hang in their financially, the payoff can be worth it. The commission will work in your benefit for a good living if you have what it takes.

Pros

The company takes great care of its employees. The FSC position is a combination of commission sales and top-notch customer service. It is great opportunity to provide care and value to the client familes and make very good money.

Cons

There is a bit of a learning curve, especially at large combo cemetery/mortuary. Weekend work is involved, but there are some weekends off.
