Pros

Well, I still deeply miss all of my colleagues who were exceptional. I doubt I'll find a marketing team with people like that again. There was always a ton of interesting work to do. I learned years of extremely valuable skills and received extensive experience. You want to learn about corporate b2b enterprise marketing? Diligent is the place to do it. I received a generous severance when I was laid off and given ample notice. At the end of the day, I was rewarded for my efforts. Thanks to the caring individuals who ensured this happened. The entire marketing org was filled with smart, caring and passionate individuals. I get sad just thinking about how much I miss them.

Cons

Constant mismanagement of projects, timing and resources. (any huge company will have this to some degree) Company is entirely unsure of what it is, what it wants to be and how to get there. When I joined, this was not the case. Get ready to work after hours most days as people will constantly force work on you when it suits them best. This wouldn't have been an issue had I known I'd never amount to anything at this org. I worked here for almost 3 years without ever being promoted but was "celebrated" as a productive employee. YOU WILL BE LIED TO ABOUT YOUR CAREER PROGRESSION EVERY TIME YOU ASK. Don't come here looking for tangible career progression, join diligent for the work experience. It's like McDonald's. Company just spent over a billion dollars just to inevitably fire the employees of the acquisitions a few years down the road... Ask me how I know...

Thank you for sharing your honest feedback with us. We couldn’t agree more about the generosity, passion, and talent of our colleagues. The shared commitment across our team to our clients and to each other are critical to our continued growth and success, as we pursue our long-term vision. We were sorry to hear of your concerns, in particular that you felt like you did not have the runway to advance your career. That is certainly not the Diligent experience that we aspire for any team member to have. In fact, at the heart of our approach to learning and development is creating engaging, challenging, and rewarding opportunities for team members to build and hone their skills as they advance their career pathways. To that end, we have and continue to invest in a wide range of programs to support our employees’ growth – including a revamped onboarding and training process; leadership and development programs; and opportunities to experience working in new offices across our global footprint. Finally, we appreciate in particular your feedback on how we can do more to create more sustainable work-life balance, which is something we’re deeply focused on to ensure that we’re promoting the well-being of all our teams, as we continue to grow and thrive. We wish you the best of luck moving forward. – Avigail Dadone, Chief People Officer

Pros

The product is market-leading, and the space is genuinely interesting. There's no shortage of smart, capable people at Diligent. A lot of talented managers exist within the org who could do more if given the room.

Cons

Direction changes constantly — sometimes it feels quarter over quarter. The result is widespread burnout and an inability to execute. Senior leaders rarely push back on the CEO, which means teams absorb every strategic shift without warning or context. HR leadership prioritizes serving the executive team over the broader employee population. The HR team is stretched thin and operates more like a compliance function than a culture or development partner. (Turnover within HR leadership has been notable.) Pay is below market. The equity program is opaque, poorly managed, and functions more as a retention mechanism than a genuine benefit (with no clear path to liquidity). There's a meaningful gap between what the company says it stands for—especially around employee experience—and what it actually delivers internally.

Thank you for taking the time to share such thoughtful feedback about your experience. We truly appreciate you recognizing the strengths of our product and the talent across our team, and we’re glad to hear the space feels interesting and compelling. We also recognize that as a company focused on governance, risk and compliance, that it’s critical to hold ourselves to the same high standards internally. Through our monthly pulse surveys, we listen to our team, learn and actively work to strengthen any areas of feedback from alignment to transparency, or accountability across our leadership teams. In fact, one of our OKRs is focused solely on ensuring we have an empowered and accountable team, which we rally around as an organization. We appreciate other sources of feedback like yours, as it is an important part of that effort. Our People team is committed to supporting an elevated employee experience and continuously improving how we listen, respond, and evolve. While we won’t always get everything right on the first try, we are highly focused on continuing to iterate and making meaningful progress to ensure our actions reflect our values.
