Pros

Nothing worth mentioning as a pro for working at Diligent

Cons

This is by far the most toxic and inflexible place I have ever worked. The CEO sets the tone... constant changes are made without considering the impact on frontline staff. In Customer Support we deal with high profile clients, solve major issues, and even take on senior, manager, and CSM-level tasks… yet we get no recognition or respect. At company events there is even a sense of discrimination between departments when frontline employees are invited. Turnover is extremely high. Shifts change frequently without notice and weekend work is imposed suddenly. If you question these decisions, you're told “it’s in the contract”, with zero empathy for anyone with a life outside of work. I was once told I should “let them know in advance” if I needed to leave because my child was sick, as if that’s something anyone can plan for.. The culture heavily favours young, single, workaholic individuals who can devote their entire lives to the company. If you have a family, personal life, or value work-life balance, this is not the place for you! The pressure is relentless and the expectation is that you live and breathe the job 24/7. Leaders here are some of the worst I have encountered: cold, unsupportive, and disconnected from the reality of their teams. There is no structured career progression, and promotions are rare. Advancement depends more on personal connections or being part of certain social groups than on hard work or performance. Despite being expected to take on the responsibilities of more senior roles, frontline employees receive no recognition or reward for their contribution. Pay and bonuses are far below industry standards for the amount of work and pressure the role demands. The place is a mess... disorganised, no clear processes, and leadership that couldn't care less about people. There is no willingness to follow Ireland legal requirements for breaks, rest periods or even urgent personal matters. By contrast my spouse works in a similar position for an American company and has full flexibility and respect for work-life balance, proving it is entirely possible to operate differently. Unfortunately Diligent chooses the opposite path and it will continue to lose great talent in Europe unless this culture changes!

Pros

The product is market-leading, and the space is genuinely interesting. There's no shortage of smart, capable people at Diligent. A lot of talented managers exist within the org who could do more if given the room.

Cons

Direction changes constantly — sometimes it feels quarter over quarter. The result is widespread burnout and an inability to execute. Senior leaders rarely push back on the CEO, which means teams absorb every strategic shift without warning or context. HR leadership prioritizes serving the executive team over the broader employee population. The HR team is stretched thin and operates more like a compliance function than a culture or development partner. (Turnover within HR leadership has been notable.) Pay is below market. The equity program is opaque, poorly managed, and functions more as a retention mechanism than a genuine benefit (with no clear path to liquidity). There's a meaningful gap between what the company says it stands for—especially around employee experience—and what it actually delivers internally.
