Pros
Growing aggressively. Opportunities to work on important and interesting projects with top-notch creatives. Founder bias means artists and supes are well-treated and seem content. Hybrid work schedule with a good amount of flexibility. Pay, holiday and benefits are competitive. Beer, snacks and games, rooftop patio and BBQ. Work-life balance is not great, but on par or better than the rest of the VFX industry.
Cons
Somewhat callous environment. The founders are highly-motived and ambitious workaholics who will relentlessly call, text and slack you throughout the day. Production staffing is inadequate and bottom-line driven, workloads are high and morale is not great. You will be promised support staff which will not be available - expect to have to do everything by yourself with little or no training in these roles. You sink or swim: you will not be given time or help to ramp up and learn their workflow, which is complicated, brittle and fairly ad-hoc. Despite the workload, you will be frustrated by "work in progress" software and tools that don't work and require hacks and workarounds. You will not be given credit or kudos for successfully delivering despite these shortcomings.
