Pros

I’ve enjoyed the past 3 years working for Ambulnz. Every day is something completely different. I started with the company as an EMT with zero experience under my belt. I now feel nothing but confidence when I go out on calls. There’s obviously always that rush of adrenaline when it’s anything serious. But now I know I have the capabilities to handle myself in any situation. I’m only saying all of this because I feel like I wouldn’t be so confident if I had started at any other company. The team here really goes above and beyond for each other in providing support and help, especially when you’re fresh.

Cons

The only downside that even comes to mind is that I don’t feel like there’s much opportunity to move up in the company. Certain paths seem blocked off and that makes me feel defeated when I start to think about my life 10-20 years in the future.

Pros

The base hourly pay is very competitive, if not the best as a new EMT looking for experience in the field. They offered a bonus per patient pickup, which was a nice addition to the base pay. You will and can get good EMT experience out of the position, if you want to practice skills; however, if you want to be lazy and just clock in and clock out, that’s also possible.

Cons

Strong pressure from managers and dispatch to cut corners. You need to pick a partner you trust both morally and physically, as no one above you will look after you if something goes wrong. You need to stand your ground on making safety decisions, because you will be pushed to "just try" when situations could become dangerous to yourself, partner, or patient.
