Pros

For my first year at Dorman Products, I genuinely enjoyed working here. My original manager was supportive, my coworkers were friendly, and I felt respected and valued. My performance, abilities, and work ethic were consistently highly regarded, It was a collaborative environment where I was proud of the work I did supporting employees across the company.

Cons

Everything changed after a new manager took over the IT Service Desk at my site in September 2025. He is currently still employed with Dorman in the same role. The department quickly became a toxic environment characterized by favoritism, micromanagement, retaliation, poor communication, and ineffective leadership. There was a clear "golden child vs. scapegoat" dynamic, and I became one of the primary targets. My experience included: * Being excluded from important departmental discussions while other employees were included. * Being cut off from supporting executive and VIP users despite previously handling those responsibilities successfully. * Constant nitpicking and criticism that made it difficult to perform my job effectively. * Receiving vague or evasive answers instead of straightforward guidance needed to complete my work. * Having my integrity questioned through unfounded implications about my overtime and timesheets. * Being required to stay late on my daughter's birthday over a trivial issue while another employee was allowed to leave early. My manager later lied about it and excused why he did this after being forced to apologize to me by HR and management. * Being invited to what was presented as a meeting to "improve our working relationship," only for it to become a one-sided lecture from my manager criticizing my performance and my decision to raise concerns with HR. Clear intimidation. Equally frustrating was that I found this Team Lead to be ineffective from both a people-management and technical perspective. My Team Lead's technical abilities were extremely limited. He refused to help me whenever it risked exposing his lack of skills or knowledge. This made it harder for technicians to support end users successfully. Rather than enabling the team, management frequently became an obstacle to getting work done. I reported my concerns to HR and senior IT leadership multiple times and provided documentation and witnesses. While my initial concerns appeared to be taken seriously, later complaints—particularly after I believed I was experiencing retaliation—were ultimately dismissed. I was left with the impression that my only options were to accept the situation or leave. After roughly seven months under this management, I resigned because I no longer believed I could perform my job effectively or trust the organization to address the problems. The most disappointing part is that I genuinely loved this job before the management change. The department transformed from a supportive, well-functioning team into one that I found stressful and dysfunctional. I would not recommend accepting an IT Service Desk position unless meaningful leadership changes are made.
