Pros

-You will quickly learn what gaslighting is -There is a designated crying area -You will leave managing to secure a nice pay rise elsewhere (mine was 15k) -A true insight into the white, upper middle class -Management is very supportive when it comes to mental health, yes you're right, I will just 'try harder :)' -Free breakfast x

Cons

-Everyone hates themselves because they get paid severely under average -Sexual Harassment is NOT a business priority here, if you get harassed ‘you probably did something to lead them on’ -No one in senior management knows how to be a manager or even how to socialise in a normal, empathetic way -Misogyny is championed -No career progression -You will probably need to factor in some time out for yourself afterwards to manage your depression and unpack your trauma induced by working here (for me it was 7 months) -Sometimes the crying area is taken by someone else so you will have to use the backup crying areas (there are alot to accommodate everyone's crying needs)

Pros

- Flexible workplace. - You'll get to work on some fun and great stuff with great media owners. - On the whole very smart and talented people with the exception of a few. - Being part of a group gives you visibility, wider industry viewpoints and the opportunity to build your network outside of your agency. - Autonomy to run with briefs, although senior leaders do like to input their two cents and criticise your work regularly in a bid to stay relevant! - The benefits package is good, likely to mitigate the **** pay. - Most people join to capitalise on the mat leave policy, great for those going off and having babies, not great for those picking up and chaperoning extra work for no extra pay.

Cons

- Very poor pay, no transparency around increases, you have to beg for a raise and lots of corporate gaslighting. - The hours and stress levels can be awful with no boundaries when it comes to out of hours work. - Those in the middle are doing most of the actual work, including converting big business, but get no bonuses or monetary rewards. - A fair few senior leaders that pass the buck, are on their own agenda, struggle to celebrate others achievements, think they are too senior, and prioritise their egos over anything else. - You have to bang down the door when overloaded and drowning with work for help and support. - Senior leaders will handball anything they don't want to work on or deal with, spending far too much time on lunches or on holiday then converting actual commercial deals and facing challenges head-on. - Lots of people coasting, likely staying because it's the best of a bad bunch when it comes to this industry. - Agency hasn't grown or evolved significantly the entire time I was there and remains stagnant.
