Pros
Some of the elderly clients (who are wonderful people).
Cons
Shockingly low pay for the amount of work, energy, and mental turmoil exerted for dealing with elderly clients (specifically those with early onset or full dementia). Verbal and sexual harassment from client's family members, office staff does not care or take action if you report it. Extremely high turnover rates at Duet. Full time work but considered part time. Some clients need more support than just a caregiving, DUET will gladly take the money from their families instead of recommending that the clients should receive more specialized support than what their company can realistically offer. Some clients need acute mental health care that cannot be provided by Duet and puts the caregiver in dangerous situations. Forced to be tracked on a gps device while with clients. Racism from office staff to caregivers of color. Office staff appear to be kind and professional during the one day of onboarding but reveal themselves to unempathetic, inconsiderate, and downright rude once you begin meeting with clients. Toxic. Required to do work beyond the scope of caregiving for clients such as home repairs, maintenance, and pet care. Not compensated for the extra work outside of caregiving. Some of the clients' parents or family are extremely hostile and rude towards caregivers but expect you to take the punishment and complete your shift. Forced to meet with clients if they are sick and infectious with flu or covid, DUET does not offer sick pay if you get sick from being around infectious clients. Not paid on time or in full. Called in last minute on confirmed days off and then lambasted for sticking up for yourself and your day off. None of the office staff have no direct experience as a caregiver. So many more cons and not enough time to list them out.
