Company wants to attract top talent while not offering top salaries, 401k and lacks competitive severance package. All of the people on my team are white. All of the software engineers at my level are white. The company over all is very white. Company is slowly tightening communication policies. At all-hands meetings, when there is an opportunity to ask questions, employees are given shallow answers publicly and then told to speak to their managers if they have any more concerns. Ultimately, not resolving any public concerns. CTO has a problem with micromanagement and has been told countless times without correction. Managers have left over it, and still no change or accountability. Ethics in general around working for white ppl who make millions in cannabis while poc sit in prison selling the same product. Company claims it's mission and value driven and CEO claims he's changing the world which very much falls into Silicon Valley saviorism tropes.
