Pros

They design some pretty cool machines.

Cons

Oppressive management practices and poor leadership. Employees are encouraged to shut up and stay in line. Most of the desin team is underpaid overworked and inexperienced in what is being sold. This logically leads to bad design practices that lead to poor results for clients. Lack of proper testing equipment results in repeated mistakes and poor upper management prevents addressing these issues.

Pros

There is a genuine enthusiasm and involvement from leaders at this organization. They do some very innovative work and are constantly developing new technologies and innovative solutions to problems. They consider work/life balance to be important, but expectations are high and that importance is diminished in crisis.

Cons

There is a tremendous amount of micromanagement and communication is poor at best. The same problems are rehashed and never solved. A tedious and repetitive quality control system is used. Whenever a mistake is made the system is expanded, even if that's not the problem. The sales team calls the shots and every project is a rush. Engineers keep their mouths shut and the resulting design mentality is "let's try it and see if it works". Customers often pay the price. Managers are quick to blame and slow to listen and coach, especially when an engineer can be singled out as the problem.
