Pros
Work alone, able to create your own plans with youth, go on outings.
Meaningful work - great youth!
Meals provided
Cons
No training for staff
Management are all friends outside of work, conflict of interest.
Abuse of power from management/supervisors.
Lack of consistency. Rules apply to staff in an unfair way and based on favouritism.
Supervisors dont support staff decisions when dealing with high risk youth, place blame on staff, and have unrealistic expectations (ex: when you call for additional support they tell you to offer tea to a suicidal youth who is having a mental breakdown).
No debriefing after traumatic events staff are exposed to.
Policies that dont make sense, punished when asking questions or making suggestions.
A supervisor still working there who exposed his private parts to staff.
Low wage
No sense of work community/support.
