Pros

EMI Australia had a strong roster of artists and talented professionals who were deeply passionate about music. There were opportunities to work on high-profile projects, and some teams fostered strong collaboration.

Cons

During my time at the company, leadership at the Managing Director level was initially welcomed back based on past reputation, but in practice, there was a lack of structured leadership and clear decision-making. A culture of favouritism created an uneven playing field, with certain individuals receiving preferential treatment while others scapegoated. The broader work environment was undermined by enablers who reinforced poor leadership behaviours instead of fostering accountability. This led to instability, inconsistency, and a lack of strategic direction across teams. HR leadership at the time also contributed to these challenges, operating with outdated workplace dynamics. Women and minorities faced disproportionate scrutiny, while male colleagues were often given more leeway. Over time, this led to inappropriate decisions at the executive level, eventually prompting intervention from global HR and leadership changes. Attending work when your wins were not celebrated and false narratives circulated created by the effective leader of the organisation exemplifies leadership standards.

Pros

Casual dress code. Extra week vacation between Christmas and New Years. Early close of business on Fridays during summer. Exclusive artist showcases for employees.

Cons

While the threat of being downsized is ever present, there is no possibility of movement within the company. 3 years between token cost of living raises. 4 years between reviews. Many areas require a thorough knowledge of institutional history but employees with that knowledge leave or are let go and their successors come in cold. Months go by without open positions being filled resulting in the survivors being stretched beyond their competency. Management think they're entitled to the rudest and most unprofessional behavior toward subordinates.

Pros

Well if you like music then their are opportunites to see bands record. Free Cds.

Cons

They embrace and tolerate ego maniacle upper mangement who have no business leading a company. You will be hired for one postion and without notice you will be doing something completely different then what you were hired for and they dont compensate when extra responsibility is placed on your shoulders. Anyone that is not upper management is treated like a second class citizen. I have known people who have been there for years and have yet to be promoted, they dont give yearly raises and if you are thinking that it will even out with an end of the year bonus, think again.
